Fascinating thread! I retired three years ago from one of the loves of my life. Unfortunately my retirement was hastened by an inattentive driver who hit my rig while responding to a critical EMS call. I was a fireman/Paramedic but I still retain my status as a Paramedic. I've seen it all and have enjoyed most every moment! As a Paramedic you see and interact with people having the worst day of their lives and it's most satisfying helping those afflicted people.
