Default Differential capacities

<div><div style="overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">Maybe a dumb differential oil / lube question here ....i've learned over the years that "one who doesn't ask stupid questions pays for broken parts. Here goes......

OK, I open the inner case that holds the spider gears, add oil put it back together. Now, there should be some oil in the outer housing where the ring &amp; pinon gear are, duh. there's no o-ring or seal of any kind. How much would be good and does it leak all the time ? A little silicone can cure that, or is it suposed to "breath". Maybe I'm just a worry wort, I used to build full size drag cars as a hobby. It's just something with oil in it and without any kind of seal bothers me. Or maybe I'm over engineering this thing.
