I doubt that the texture of the surfaces matter much. The fit is much more critical. Aliphatic resins actually penetrate the surfaces making the bond stronger than the actual wood assuming you have two good, flat mating surfaces pressing against each other. Cutting bad angles resulting in just the point of one surface against the other surface won't make a good bond.
