RE: 1/8 scale TopFlite Corsair Mods
Hey Tom
These projects do tend to stagnate for long periods, my Corsair did as well. But NZ5385 is all but finished now, just needs the nose art and serial numbers; final fitting of the batteries, receiver, and external air connector which will go in the opening under the nose with the remote glow connector and fuel dot. Oh and I have to paint inside the wheel wells etc.
I want to add the radio masts, and the lights under the wings, but they can wait till after the test flight and settling-in is out of the way.
The weight came out at 10lbs dry ready to fly and the CG is not too bad, just 1/2" too far back before I have played about with battery placement etc. so I'm very happy with that.
I have experimented with weathering and dirtying, and the beat-up appearance was helped a bit when we had a major earthquake here in September and falling stuff struck the fuselage in several spots. Fortunately only glancing blows and no real damage - very lucky.
Here are some pics of the plane; and also the remote glow clip I made as commercial ones are to big for the clearance available in the cowl.
