I have the regular Triton EQ and am happy with it. I certainly wouldn't call it bad quality. I've had a Hyperion before and can honestly say it's the most intuitive piece of equipment I've ever had for RC. I didn't even need a manual. It's not made any better though.

As for the battery leads: Normal charging goes in through the main 2 wire lead. The balance connector (little wires) is there so the charger can put a small discharge load on your high cell to let the others catch up. There are chargers that charge through the balance connector, charging each cell individually. One isn't better for your batteries than the other. It's just a different way of getting to the same place.
