Why a regulator if the receiver battery is the proper type and voltage? A 600 mah NiCd or NiMh 4.8 volt pack does not need a regulator.

Good question, CG, not really sure why... Not sure if it was a hold-over from a previous setup or if they thought it would some how provide more consistent voltage... It was on a big electric heli.
