Default Nose Retract Unit Help needed

Hi Guys,
I just got my plans for my classic machine and i have a problem! On the plans the nose unit is shown as a reverse
retracting Rhom-Air retract unit mounted vertically to the back of the engine firewall. With Rhom-air gone does
anybody know of any solutions available in 2011?
Distance between wheel axle and undercarriage pivot point is 4 9/16". Nose wheel dia 2". Distance between Firewall and
Fuselage/wing LE dowel locating former is 6.5"
I have never flown an old school pattern model before so do you guys use nose wheel steering or is it not required? (can i use a
wing retract for this position rather than a nose unit with trunnion block milled for a rotating leg)
I think if i use a beam mount retract unit the air cylinder and wheel will not clear each other.

brgds
Dave
