Learning to PROPERLY set up a plane is something that takes a bit of attention. It is something that eludes most beginners until someone helps them and then the plane flys SO MUCH BETTER that they can actually learn to fly (or to fly better).
Different planes have different set up requirements. I can set up a trainer well or a stik or such. But as I progress into more capable gliders I find I am still learning how to set up a plane. I always ask for help with 3D types and I have been flying 20 years or more.
You will bump into stories here about pilots that cuss ata plane that they don't like as much as they thought. Then someone helps them make some adjustments and WOW it is a whole new animal.
