I installed the drop tanks, but made them removable as I like to transport my wings in wing bags.
Isn't it machine gun pods?
I guess an easy solution to the wing seat challenge is to mask well around both sides of the gap, sand one side place cling film or wax paper on the other side, fill the gap with hysol, JB Weld or similar strong epoxy, screw the wings tight and clean off excess epoxy around the gap and tape. Make a thin barrier of play dough ore similar around the wing joiner and screws or else you have a transport problem after a few hours. A paint shop or an automotive paint spraying workshop can usually scan and reproduce colors. you don't need 100% match anyway since this is a place with different curves and shadows around.
regarding the glassing. When i removed the covering on my model, i was amazed of how nice the planking of the wings where done. It needed almost none filler to make it ready for glassing. It is easy to glass a model lightweight, but it's some more work to fill the pinholes afterwords. i used cloth weighing 25 grams pr m2
