Default RE: Redwing 50cc Sboch

I am presently buildling my Version 3 Sbach 342. It has gone together very well, but I have to admit I am not crazy about the metal servo arms that were included in the kit. I have decided to purchase 1.5 inch hangar 9 arms for the ailerons and elevators. I then purchased a 3.5 SWB double rudder arm for the rudder. How many batteries did everyone use. I used a LIFE 6.6 2100 on the servos, a life 6.6 1100 for the reciever, and 4.8 2000 nicad on the ignition.

I am using SAVOX 1256TG on the rudder and SAVOX 1258TG on the ailerons and elevators. They are coreless and titanium gears. The ailerons and rudder are really fast around .08 and 170 ounces and the rudder is .15 and 277 ounces.
They seem to be plenty powerful enough and they center excellent.

Secondly,
I was wondering on CG on this plane. I know Tom used around 6" back from leading edge. Can anyone else provide me with their CG's. I am going to use this plane for IMAC. Did you have to put your batteries all the way up front near the motor?

Oh yea, I had to shorten my standoffs to 2 1/4 inches to get the desired cowl to spinner length. Well that caused some other issues with the muffler. I constructed a custom wrap around pitts muffler to keep from cutting the engine box.

Did anyone coat the edges of the G10 control horns with clear or epoxy to seal them. I have heard about these type of horns delaminating at the edges.

I will post some pictures tomorrow when my camera is charged.
