Hi Houston,
Flight #1 was about 2 minutes. I took off with moderate winds, but very gusty. I hadn't flown a pattern plane since New Years. So the newness, plus the gusty wing rocks and such, I decided to quickly land to make sure nothing was loose on the plane. Everything was tight upon inspection. Flights #2 and #3 I went through P and 1/2 F. Beyond some aileron or elevator trim, there was absolutely no value in "trimming" the plane given the conditions. I copied over my Axiome program so I had a good starting point for rates and conditions. Just like the Axiome, the + version rolls exceptionally well. The snaps looks very good. I can't really tell the differences on such a day. However, of note, the YS 170 on a YS mount purrs like a kitten. I think the YS mount, with its shock obsorber, dissapaints the combustion peak-shock over longer time. The result is that the airframe barely vibrates at low idle and vibration is softer/smoother, rather than sharp/peaky - IE, the airframe "bang" is gone from this system. The header is barely seen to move in the cutout, and the needle valve flexible cable extention never gets into an excited vibration state like it will on my Hyde mount plane.
Physical differences: Wing is swept like the Axiome wing, but has "arc'd/rounded" leading edge. Stab is 1/2" smaller. T-cannalizer is 2.0" longer per side. New plane is a bit lighter for some reason. Belly pan is rounded, and does not have longitudinal 1/2" fin on it.
Its a stunning plane. I like the increased white and orange on the nose
Thanks,
Jim
