I have a Hacker A50-16S in a SebArt AngelS and I use the rear mount and  prop shaft mounted to the rear of the motor, like you describe and it works just fine.  The Hackers are great motors.  I'm very happy with mine.  I hope you're putting your motor in a Wind 110.  I've seen a couple of these fly and they're excellent airplanes.
