RE: AMA Letter to your State Rep
Dropped off two letters at Congressman Tom Petri's Home Office here in Fond du Lac today, along with the recent copy of Model Aviation to give him a feel for the size and scope of our hobby. He was not available at the time, but I discussed the issues with one of his aids at length. One letter was the form letter suggested by the AMA, and the second was a more personal letter as I have know him for all 17 of his terms. It included invitations to our fly-ins and more detail how Model Aviation betters our community.
The aid understood the issue and will be presenting it to Tom in D.C. next week. Tom is the Chair of the Aviation Sub-Committee of the House so is in the center of the FAA Re-Authorization Process.
I plan to follow up with phone call next week. All congressman are up to their ball sacks in politics right now with upcoming expiration of funding on March 4th, so hard to pin them down.
