Default RE: Prop Bites!!!

ORIGINAL: dubs1946
This was a 15cc engine just think what 100cc will do.
well, this is one of the reasons I like my big gas engines - first they turn less RPM - no reason to have the fingers close the fan at full throttle (adjustment). I got smacked ones by a backfire gasser, these blades are so blunt no cut just some bruises.

Most modelers - 99% miss to deburr these small blades. The parting sharp seam gets them, I try to tell them all the time but nobody is listening, just some young guys after I sent them a link of prop bite pics like yours go across the blade and take the edge off. May you loose about that 50 rpm.

Worst "prop-strike-offenders" are electric motors because they don't stop.

Sorry to hear that Barry, now you have the chance to do a good thing and warn when you see pilots to close (or worse by them self) tinkering to the fan - offer your help and insist.
