Default RE: Ace 25% Extra 230 Build

J,
Nice job on your build - I've been working on my 33%'er on and off for the past year as well (I'm the guy with the wing tube), just recently got back into it. Got the structural stuff done and ready to sheet the wings. Ihave a couple of questions for you. Idid the aileron servo pockets this afternoon - wanted to mount them on their sides, but the size of the cutout bothered me so I followed the print exactly, except moved them outboard to ~1/3 the length of the aileron (opposed to 1/4 on the print). I like the way you recessed the assembly (another thing Iwanted to do). Did you do any reinforcement of the pockets on the opposite side of the wing? I've got ~1/2"of foam under the aileron box - built for Hitec 654MG's - and just concerned it's a little thin.

Second question - how did you do the tunnel for the extension?Iset up a straight edge from the root to the center of the servo box and whipped out the old Weller soldering gun. Ran about 1"deep at the root and tapered up to 3/4"at the center of the box (where Ihad the side hole located) and basically left it raw cut, although Iburnt the 25"slot in less than 10 seconds, the foam is nicely fused and smooth. The width turned out to be about 5/32" so Iripped a piece of 1/4"thick balsa x 5/32"wide and glued it in the slot, flush with the top. Can actually drop the extension by itself from the root to the box. In your opinion, is this Ok or should Ihave run a tube?

Let me know when you get a chance......it's probably too late to change it now anyway.

Thanks, Eric
