And here I thought it was a gimmick to help sell airframes when a single connector fails. And to spend money on ''hubs.'' And to decrease the voltage at the servos due to losses from long wire runs. And to increase the susceptibility to EMF (ignition noise?) with unshielded cables.

I was not aware that Futaba sold airframes, so I wonder about the validity of that point. As far as the wires go, so far there have not been reports of people feeling a difference in the planes that I know of where it is being used. And teh RF link appears to be as robust as ever. So go figure.
