Which Jett Engine?
I miss flying the Pattern Planes of the 70's....they flew great! So I'm thinking of building a Joe Bridi Dirty Birdy or the Bridi XLT with a rear exhaust piped engine. On the XLT, the pipe runs back through the canopy like Wolfgang Matt's Super Arrow. I want an engine that will make the XLT scream through the sky....I mean something just below Mach 1. But...at the same time, I want an engine with good handling characteristics...easy starting and good reliable idle. My question is: "Which Jett engine and pipe would be best for this airplane?
XLT Specifications
Wing Span: 65 inches
Wing Area: 845 sq inches
Engine Size: 10cc - .60 (2 Stroke)
.90 - 1.20 (4 Stroke)
Est. Weight: 7.5 - 8.5 lbs
The Bridi⢠XLT is designed for tuned pipe and retract landing gears. Foam wing and stab with 3/32 balsa sheet covering. Capable of the A.M.A or turn-around pattern. Comes with a fiberglass canopy for rear or side exhaust engine.
I am also considering the new version of Don Lowe's Phoenix 7.
