Smith was not ''appointed'' in the sense that the EC made some decision to pick a replacement. It is in the bylaws, that's just how it works.
I t just fascinates me how anytime anything happens at the AMA people come out of the woodwork complaining about how terrible it is, how awful the person is and on and on and on.
I can at times understand the fascination with people just complaining for the reason to complain. I am not dissatisfied or annoyed with the AMA at all and I don't beleive my posts reflect that. I think it is a good organization. I do believe the AMA, as well as any non-profit, needs to be held to high levels of scrutiny.
On to the topic of Mr. Smith,
if what the poster stated were facts (I have no evidence that they are, but IF they are) about the person in question then we should by all means watch and scruitinize the individual as well. It is as if we in the US just don't care anymore. If someone has an agenda other than what they hired on to do, then that should be called in to question. What ever happened to accountability in this country?
