Busy week for me had to catch up on the forum...
The boards on the Hexa seem ok. I has to send one back for another reason (it wasn't storing the settings on board the flash memory). The one bad thing about having 6 brushless motors at the end of thin arms is... having 6 brushless motors at the end of thin arms. Ripped one wire (of the 3) from one motor, and twisted up another motor so much that I snapped the wires on that one. I _probably_ can fix it, but I don't want to risk $3k with suspect motors.
I do have video of me taking off the camera mount, but not that actual crash (but I'll include some pictures).
I did receive FPV video stuff this week (except for the camera, which was out of stock). So next time I take it up, I'll have some real-time video. Now to play with some On-Screen Display!

The SR-71 was cool. But it's not realistic until it leaks fuel like a sieve until it gets up to "speed" and causes the TI to expand and fill in all the gaps.

I was reading through Radio Control Heli Pilot and I'd though I pass some things along:

There's a review of the BeastX, "It's easy to setup, takes very little room on your helicopter, and is priced comparable to a good tail gyro. Highly recommended!"
They also talked with the people who produce the Microbeast, and the original designer of the Microbeast (Hans):
The Microbeast is very good at doing a slow pirouette while holding the heli level, and it does not care about the location of the heli's CG. Hans slso notes that he worked with test pilots to optimize the gain between angular rate feedback and mathematically-integrated angular attitude feedback to give a nice balance. That is, the unit does not stop any motion so soft as to be mushy, nor too hard so as to cause a bounce. Some flybarless controllers use just proportional (P) and integration (I) feedback, but he uses a full P,I,D (differential) feedback system.
Since flybarless helicopters do not have Bell-Hiller mixing arms and a flybar to relieve the steady and vibratory aerodynamic loads feeding back from the rotor blades to the servos, it is critical to employ the highest quality and most rugged servos you can find to get the best performance. The servos should have metal gears and output shafts supported by two radial bearings. The torque rating should be greater than 100 oz-in for 50-90 size helicopters.
For best performance with the heading lock tail gyro, use a high speed digital servo that can handle a high signal frame rate of 270 to 330 Hz.

They also reviewed the Rave ENV (Electric, or 90 size glow), "The RAVE offers flawless performance and can handle and 3D maneuvers that you can fly. If Nick Maxwell cannot break it in the air, then it's unlikely you will! However, it is also a very smooth flying machine that is great for everyday enjoyment."
