RE: Pattern by the Bay Contest - Richmond, CA
We had 2 great days at Richmond, Saturday was a gentle breeze pretty much down the runway until late afternoon and then a crosswind blowing directly out but very manageable. Sunday was even better, just a gentle breeze and about 75-80 degrees, warm for the Bay area. Great time and some pretty good flying from some new people to the sport. This was a laid back contest with good competition, couple classes were petty tight with final places being determined by the last flights. Great time!!!
2 flyers were flying the 3DHS Osiris and it is a very impressive plane. Both were using 5S 5000 mah packs and the Hacker A50-12 motor. Plenty of power and duration. It is not just a plane that flies pretty good for it's size, it is really a nice flying plane period. Very impressive, hopefully the rumored big brother to the Osiris will be as good or better.
We had a good mixture of planes, motors, engines, radios, etc, all working very well. I don't think anyone had any equipment problems at all. A few pilots had thumb glitches, myself included, but none of them led to disaster. ;-)
Below is a picture from directly behind the flying site looking west over the SF Bay, Mount Tam on the left in the distance. Beautiful place......
