Default RE: Basic set up for first timer

ORIGINAL: FuscoTJ

I am new to the air RC world. I am interested in building a twin engine RC plane. Something like a Dash 8 or Saab 340.

What components would I need?

I have been looking at some hobby sites but there are so many different combinations.

I am looking to use brushless motors with an 8 in. prop.

Any reccomendations on motor, controller, receiver...etc.

Thanks

* do you have a coach or instructor to show you how to build this plane?

Do you think full scale pilots start out of twin engine Dash 8s? Of course not, and neither should you.

Twin engine home built? Sounds like a highly likelypath to failure. Hate to deliver the news that way but that is how I see it.

You may be very very successful, but likely not.

Buy a foam RTF and learn to fly it. The HobbyZone Super Cub is about the best. While you are learning to fly that, you can build your twin engine plane. At least then you might have a chance of not destroying it immediately.
