I've found the Ember2, while is slower than the Champ, has a bit more docile handling yet can out turn the Champ (yes, I have flown both, indoors and outdoors). My choice between the two for a first micro would be the Ember2 - I've got one and going to add a second one before long. The Ember2 also has a good ability to catch the lightest of thermals. It's my choice for flying from the driveway or patio when I don't care to fly my SU-26 or 4-site from the street.
