For the first time flyer, just go with the y cable. Learn to program after you fly it for a while and start getting bored, and need something extra to do. You will use 2 channels in the future, don't complicate things for yourself. Remember to label the cables so you can't hook them up to the opposite channel when you do use 2 channels. It is a common mistake when using 2 channels for ailerons. I bet no one on RCU has ever made
