Default RE: What's gone wrong with carburetor/engine?

After much anxiety and further reading, Ifinally tried the carburetor cleaner test and sure enough the engine note changed when I sprayed in and around the area towards the rear of the carburetor insulator block(my engine has carburetor mounted on the right side looking out from the cockpit). Having read a post by Jody in the DLE20 thread that careful application of a thin flim of sealant to the insulator block and gasketswould address the leaking issue, Iremoved the carburetor and applied some high temperature silicone. The carburetor was replaced and left to set overnight.

While Ihaven't done a further carburetor cleaner test, I am happy to report that when I started the engine this morning I was able to reduce the idle to below 2300 rpm which Iunderstand is not bad for an unbroken in engine. Will provide further updates later this evening when Itest with carburetor cleaner.

Thanks again for all your help.</p>
