Default advice on cheap servos and receiver

You are correct that for the less expensive transmitters, the flightpacks almost cost as much as the TX with the flight pack. You really only start to save money when you get to the point where your "must have" radio is one of the more expensive units. At that point, flight packs start to look like bargains.

That said, I'll echo what others have said about ServoCity. There are other companies that have good prices on components as well, such as Quantum Models.

Also, take a look at FMA, www.fmadirect.com They have some great RXs at very reasonable prices.

When shopping, be sure to look for sales, (tower, for example, sometimes sells 12 servos for something like $99, a real bargain) and price "flight packs" compared to the components seperately.

I've also bought gear off of ebay with great success, but be careful again of the price you are paying.
