Saw a TF Staggerwing fly at the recent IMAA Fly In at Castle AFB in Central California. Watched it fly several times and was very impressed by it's performance, large loops, rolls and screaming fly bys.
Since I have one NIB I tracked the pilot down to see what his power plant was. Surprise...it was a lowly stock Zenoah g-23. It fit completely inside the cowl.
I have G-23 with about 8 gallons through it and it runs like a scalded dog. Guess where it is going?
Never underestimate a Zenoah engine. Sleepers they are!
Dick - Interesting thoughts on using a Zenoah. I've got a NIB G-26 mag version, do remember how much the cowl was cut up to accommodate the G-23? TIA!
