Great Planes Sequence
So I have finally made a decision on a plane and bought a Great Planes Sequence. I am using an E-Flite Power 32 w/60 amp esc, 4S 3000 mah 30C LiPo batteries, and a Xoar 12x7 e-prop. My flight timer is set at 10 minutes. I had to machine the motor mount to fit perfectly. It flies great, plenty of power, but I had to re-design the canopy holding system. It came off three times and I was installing it according to the manual. Hobby Services, Inc. sent me a new canopy (that will be modified) and two rolls of Monokote. I removed the wooden latches on their canopy and replaced them with 1/16" x 1/2" basswood. I also modified the slots on the fuse to accept the 1/2" wide basswood tabs. I used a carbon fiber rod that is .050" in diameter that goes in one side of the fuse, through the tabs I made, and out the other side. It protrudes about 1/4" on each side, but you can't see it in the air, and my canopy ain't flying off. Anyone else had these issues? What did you do? I ask because my prototype mod hasn't failed yet, but y'all probably have a better mod idea. Any suggestions will be appreciated. One more thing, their suggested CG makes the plane real nose heavy and a bear to knife edge. I had to move my LiPo pack aft a full two inches to achieve level inverted flight with no elevator trim or input. Well, almost level. It drops ever so slightly to the nose. I guess because they suggest a 2200 mah pack and I'm running a 3000 mah pack. At the end of the day, it flies awesome. Sorry for the long post guys. Help me if you can.
