I have done the same thing changing from a primer bulb to a flat plate, by tapping the hole from the cavity and using a 2-56 screw...Didn't know it was making it a special carb
ANYONE who says the carb should not be tuned before the first flight is doing the new owner a big disservice..Try flying at 7000 feet with the same tuning that works at 1000 feet...

Mypoint is that if it has a capped off recirc fitting for a primer bulb the carb was not originaly designed for an RC toy airplane engine.
