They are based on the Hyper 7 series of buggies by Hobao (OFNA in the US). In other words, they are licensed copies produced in China and distributed by Ansmann, a German company. I used to own a Hyper 7 myself, and was more than satisfied with it. They are strong as tanks and parts and upgrades are plentiful. It's the right car for the right money.

With the money you have left over, buy a 6v receiver pack so you don't have to use AA batteries to power the receiver and servos. This should be your first upgrade, it makes a huge difference to the control of the car.
