Default RE: Neptune ARF advice on 1st seaplane? Construction tips?

ORIGINAL: lupy

I have the II version from Maxford and I haven't had a problem with the covering. It's not as nice as monocote, but I have done several hundred take off and landing runs without a problem. Maybe you got one covered by a newbe. If the seams arn't overlaped right, even good covering will strip off on a hot landing.

That's true. I read somewhere that someone flew the Neptune and the covering came right off and sank. I don't know if that's true, but it might be possible if the plane isn't touched up with the iron before flight.

I kind of given up on this ARF. The quality isn't as good as the Neptune V1. JMHO, and the directions were horrible. I just found out that League Models doesn't make the V2, and that some other company is building the V2 for Maxford. I also just found out that League Models is still making the V1 for those who want it. Only a few distributors still carry the original Neptune in America.

A few days ago I ordered the original 60 Neptune and should be getting it in a few days frome Value Hobby. I'm contacting the owner of League Models in China for a extra front and rear cowl so I can rebuild and modify my other original Neptune this Fall or Winter.
