Default RE: KingTech K-80

I'm going to voice some concerns here.

I do not understand why we need to fuss around with so many ECU settings just to get this thing started. To this point, I have been relying on the factory settings.
To be fair and up front, I am the third owner, and the ECU said it had 52 mins on the engine. I was told only the factory has run it. It is possible one of the owners screwed with a setting or two.

My K-80 s/n 351 with flightworks pump, seems to run just fine for the 8 runs I've done so far. But it is terrible on start-up.

However, after reading this thread I have seen no setting on mine that is way off, but there is no way any of us can tell what's correct out of all the well meaning suggestions on this thread.
Frankly, the manual is of little use.

With the number of user changeable settings in these ECUs, there should be start setting tables based on temp and DA, or pressure altitude, with corresponding settings that work. Tables for PowerMax should be adjusted or different than for green bottle. But the factory should already know this data.

Powermax is a known entity. There should not be this much guesswork. Why does my P-60 start up each time, everytime, the same way using the same temperature Powermax? Even my 10 year old technology RAM 500 starts better. Same Powermax.

In my opinion, it is inapproriate to require the average user to fiddle with an ECU this much just to get an otherwise good engine running. There isn't that much temperature and altitude difference to justify this for most of us.

Again, as I've said I've had no problems in flight so far, just starting. I've been around jets long enough to be beyond accepting flames or hung starts through no fault of my own using factory provided gear.

Cheers,
Chris
