RE: Neptune ARF advice on 1st seaplane? Construction tips?
I only had to do little when it came to alternating anything, my stock glow tank was a little chubby and wasn't narrow enough for the cowl to fit over without risking damage. So I had another 260.c.c tank that fit perfectly and I'll be using that instead. I had to flair out the male vent and flow brass tubes in my glow tank so I could push the tank forward tight against the firewall post.
In the pictures you can see the way I have my electronics installed. Made a homemade switch handle by crimping a bike brake cable end safety tip, then applied CA and slid over a rubber screw thread guard.
I took a piece of soft plastic and made a support mount for the elevator flex rod. Right now I have the engine off because I'm about to cut the cowl and put it on. My plane has flapperons, but I know they aren't really needed- Just gets me off the water quicker. Plus it adds conversation at the float fly's.
If everything goes well it will be done in about a week. I'll film the maiden.
I just got a letter from Mr. Lee from League Models. The Neptune V1 (The Original) will remain in production. He stated in the E-mail that no one in the United States is selling his brand as of yet, and only selling the left overs from when Maxford had it. I guess Mr.Lee and Maxford had a business fall out, and now doesn't have a supplier in the US.
I told him that I hope that will change soon because I wanted to continue to be able to buy planes and parts from him in the future.
Very nice guy! And his English wasn't bad. Thought you guys might like to know.
