gosh 20 amp esc ? personally it sounds as if the bird is way underpowered it could be the esc is fried yet again i would power it up try to fly it then feel motor esc and batts for temp or get actual temp readings the only time i ever expierienced this was with my blade 400 the stock battery died after a few charges actually 1 of the 3 cells was bad and this same sort of thing happened to me i would find around a 30a esc and toss in about a 3500kv heli motor with a 11 tooth pinion  imho.
