Take a look at craigslist there are many good deals on trainer packages with everything you need some even have fuel with it. You can pick one up there with everything you need for $.50 on the dollar. It will be usable and you can learn on it. In many cases what happens people buy a trainer package then something happens and they either do not have the time to fly or need extra cash so it has not been flown or flown very little.

I have seen brand new stuff with everything for under $250.00 If you buy NEW at the LHS it will cost you over $500.00.

Any of the stick style airplanes can be used for a trainer. Get yourself a six channel radio to start unless you buy a package from another person. You will not regret it. A Ball Bearing 45 or 46 will give you a huge amount of options for future aircraft.
