Default RE: Neptune ARF advice on 1st seaplane? Construction tips?

It flew a tad tail heavy. When I cut the throttle and idled into the wind she porpoised a little. So when I got back home I added 14g more to the nose. I had 3 flights on her and I brought her home in one piece. The lake was very choppy and the wind gusts were terrible as the result in knocked me around pretty good. The waves were so choppy that even my prop kept cutting water, and I had to idle it in carefully.

The flapperons worked great giving me that extra lift on take off, and slowed me up quicker on the landings- but they weren't needed. After the first flight I only needed a little trim to level her out at half throttle. It didn't take long for people to congregate around me, they even started to come up to the shore with their boats watching me fly, and started to ask questions about the plane once I was done flying.

Do keep an eye on the covering people. It does try to come loose on the edges. If it does it again on me I'll recover the bottom with matching Mono, like I did with my other Neptune.

But for now I tacked it back down, and put a thin bead of Ultra-thin CA on the eges of the bottom covering. I forgot to bring my plumbers putty to fill the wing gaps, so I used Vaseline and it worked for the first few flights. I had no water in my plane, but the 3rd flight I had a few drops get in because the Vaseline started thinning out.

Again she's one of the best flying planes I have. Does loops real well, rolls are interesting and flys inverted real well.

Sorry guys, I brought the camera and took a few shots. I had a woman there film my maiden, but she kept hitting the wrong buttons on the camera and screwed it up badly. So there's no video of the maiden. I'll have someone else try to film me at the next Float-Fly next month.
