I guess I wouldn't know. I don't use the expensive, top of the line gas engines.

I just use the gasket that comes with the engine or muffler, if the muffler is a separate purchase. I also make sure to use locktite on the muffler bolts. This helps keep the bolts tight.

I haven't had to clean my engines when I do it this way.
