Here is how I mounted the canopy... It's a perfect fit to say the least and I am very satisfied with how it turned.
Picture 1:
A 1/4" dowel glued to the front of the canopy protruding about 2"
Picture 2:
A 2"x2" block consists of 4 1/4" 2"x2" pieces one ply and the rest are high density balsa glued to the fuse top in front of the dowel with hysol
picture 3:
A 1"x2" balsa 1/4" block glued to the top of the fuse on the back side. I made a channel on this block and glued a brass tube that is 1/8" inner diameter and ran a 1/8" music wire to act like a latch
Picture 4:
1/4" ply block shaped to sit on the back of the canopy and glued (generously) with hysol
Picture 5:
The canopy installed and the fit is amazing with zero play.
Picture 6:
The best tool I fount to screw the wings and booms. Screwing the wings takes literally less than a minute now.
General tips: make sure that you very well sand the white canopy plastic before gluing anything to it (I know you all are aware of the importance of this but we tend to forget, or at least I do (did)
). Red thread lock on the tip of the dowel and the music wire will leave a a good mark on the wood that tells you where to exactly drill. Drilling on the canopy for the music wire will be, most likely, on the hysol so make sure you make the hole before the hysol is fully cured.
