Possibly the engine is leaking around the glow plug, mine was loose once and it can create a mess. Also check the metal washer for the plug.
Mail ordering parts is sometimes the best deal, I stocked up onsome itemsjust in case. Take your time when setting the mesh, the plastic spur gear in my opinion holds up very well.
