Gray Beard,
I know what you mean about ''visitors'' when you live in Las Vegas...one of my business partners lived there years ago; and the ''visitor'' problem got so bad he actually installed an outside entrance to his mother-in-law apartment and gave his visitors the code to the locks.
My son now lives in Eldorado Heights (north north north Las Vegas by the Alliante Hotel and Casino) and he always seems to have somebody staying with him. He's close to the north las Vegas flying field actually, just about as far north from you in Henderson as one can get and still be in the Vegas valley.
When we came to the QSAA every year, we stayed at the Railroad Pass Casino and Hotel...glad they refurbished it over the years....it's OK now that they did. The Eldorado valley flyers have some of their meetings there don't they?
We, too, have some dry lake beds, but they are just ''baby puddles'' compared to yours. What a great place to fly!
I have a house with a Casita but that's my shop. I started to make my guest room into a den but my wife put the breaks on that idea. With all the hotels in the area why can't I have a den?? OK some of the friends I really do like to see. Most of them used to stay on the strip {where the action is!} but now with the rates up as high as they are they seem to like my place a lot more?
That club is out of Boulder, they have a field but most of them fly off the lake bed. There meetings are usually on the LB too. During the winter months a lot of us meet up and eat breakfast at the Rail Road Pass. During the week anyway. Locals, we know when the deals are on.
I go to the North field about once a year for the IMAC event. I still get lost trying to find it. That area keeps getting built up and I loose my markers for getting off the hiway. It even fools with the GPS system.
When in town other then looking around don't bother with the new Cosmo, really high prices and crap for service.
