Default RE: Norvel conversion heads

Guys,

First problem, is that the threads on the NV head run all the way to the bottom, but the threads in the Norvel cylinders do not! If you look at any Norvel glow head clamp, you will see that the threads have been cut back enough to clear the unthreaded area in the cylinders. Norvel did not tap the threads all the way down to the sealing flange.

A friend of mine has a mini lathe, and also owns Norvel engines. He chucked my head in his lathe with a 4mm screw from the inside, and turned down a couple of threads using one of his engines to judge the fit. Unfortunately, his engine must have a different tolerance, as my modifed head still does not seal well. Now my friend is out of town for a month, so I'm stuck for now.

I've yet to get my Norvel .061 to run well with the NV diesel head installed, because it still doesent seal well.

Unfortunately, I had no help from Alex at NV, other than telling me how to sand the last few threads off with a sanding block! First time I've had a vendor tell me to fix a manufacturering defect myself.

FWIW, the compression screw on my head holds perfectly, but not until the engine spins over with an electric starter, or fires on a prime.
