I thought about the carburetor and will work on that before I spend the money for a new starter.
So it should be no problem to hand start an engine like this, when evrything is in the right order?
I have some smaller gas engines, 15 and 20cc and they start up fine with the electric starter but very hard to hand start.

From reading all the threads about those engines when they were being sold, you may want to consider a different engine. Quite a few of those expired due to broken crankshafts. Most seemed to run fairly well right up until the time they let go.
