Yagi antennas are usually higher gain at the expense of beamwidth. A patch like this one is a good compromise. Often overlooked is the ability, or lack thereof, of an antenna to reject signals coming from odd angles and from the rear. Yagi antennas are usually not as good at blocking interference from the rear. Patch antennas are usually fairly good at it.
