They need to rein this in quickly.
This is not going to go away. This type of use for UAS is what the FAA's sUAS rules are all about. There are thousands of uses for UAVs in the civilian sector and law enforcement is but one of them. What we as modelers have to do is differentiate ourselves and our activities from UAS in order to not fall under their regulatory umbrella.
As far as what activities law enforcement carries out with UAS, that's for the public and local governments to figure out - as it appears they are doing here. After all, its not like UAS are the first tool that law enforcement has taken up that has the ability to step on people's civil rights if used inappropriately...
