Scale Plans show em at 17 inches. Mine register 19 1/2 inches.
20% of 80" wingspan = 16"
I read someone's article on floats,,, (Howard I think but don't remember). who recomended 25% of wingspan for stability.
which shouldv'e put me at 20". So I am pretty close.
After looking at the water in other float plane flights. I come to the conclusion that it was the wind gusts combined with the flaps that we're the real culprit.
I also decided to not launch it while sitting in the boat anymore. It is just too crowded for safely starting and launching the thing.
From now On I will have the boat ready to go, but will just start the plane and launch it from shore. Then I can just taxi it right up onto the beach when done.
I'll just have to wear a scary mask, or uhmm,,bring my wife, to scare all the little kids away! LOL.
Smoky.
Another Neighbor kid just showed up with a 40 size trainer,,, think I'll be busy for a bit now... Gotta love it.
The local classic car Club is having a car show, and asked us to put up a static display of our models planes too.
H'mm,,, I think, maybe, we just may be able to get a club going here pretty soon.
It sure seems like this Beaver is Bringing em in from all over.
when I fly, people just seem to pop out from all over, take time out of their busy schedules, stop and watch.
Kids even stop fighting to watch! LOL.
