Default phoenix yak stab assembly

hey guys,

Anyone ever assembled one of these planes? bought two phoenix models and they seem pretty good for there money. i am glad with there quality (if you take into account there price). But i stumbled on a prob with the yak stab assembly. it wouldnt match the plane exactly. at start it was sticking 3 mm above the fuselage edge that is getting attached to. I sanded the ply on the bottom of the vertical stab (the piece of would that comes in contact with the horizontal stab and fuselage ) and managed to decrease the "step" a bit. i couldnt sand it more as in my mind this would weeken the join after it was glued (dont want the stabs flying off to a different course the plane was heading to ).I proceeded and glud the stab on the plane with epoxy. i will just sand the top side now and recover. Anyone had this issue aswell?

Forgot to mention that the horizontal stab was glued in place well. it has 100% contact with the fuselage under it so that is not causing the problem.
