When I picked up my stuff, Johns 10 year old son was helping me load all of my stuff into the trailer. John was in the shop getting some boxes and it was me and his son alone. His son said, ''My dad really is a great builder isn't he?'' Biting my lip, I looked at him and said, ''Yes son he really is a great builder''.
I will not sue John because it will take away from his children. I am a father and would never taint the love and pride that a child has for his father. Life will be hard enough for these kids and he will have plenty of time to figure out the real truth about his dad in his own time.
Andy, you made a very personal choice (and a very good one IMHO) in the heat of the moment to set your ego aside and be good to his son; it's just a shame you had to keep the lie going and it's a shame the lies won't protect those kids for long. It's up to this guy and this guy alone to do right by himself and his family. And I sure hope he has a chance to read that post and really think about what he should do, day by day, to do right by those who need him most.
Sorry again to hear of this whole unfortunate situation. I have a lot of respect for you in how you handled yourself in that situation with his son.
