Futaba has a 2.4 GHz that will work with it. AM should work, but is prone to have radio frequency noise issues. Also Spektrum makes a DX6i and DX5e that are 2.4 GHz radios that work with the Tamiya electronics as well. 2.4 GHz radios will not have problems with radio frequency noise. Here is the Spektrum site
http://www.spektrumrc.com/DSM/Products/airRadios.aspx and here is the Futaba
http://www.futaba-rc.com/systems/air.htmlsite to compare the two. Even though they both are under their respective sites as Air Radios it does not matter. You can still use them for surface applications because the frequency channels no longer matter. Each 2.4 GHz transmitter binds to it's receiver via a unique frequency and eliminates the need for specific channels. No other 2.4GHz transmitter will bind to your receiver once it is bound to you transmitter. The Spektrum site has the best explanation for this if you need more info. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum!!!
