Looked at the reviews of this app and it says that it will not work indoors. Where did you mount it in the plane? Does the phone need to see the sky?
GPS on the iPhones is unreliable inside some (Metal) structures, but will be fine inside a jet unlsee it's obscured by wiring or something. It need not 'see' the sky to recieve reliable GPS signals.
