I am not at home right now to check my notes but I think about 1/4'' sounds right for the kingcat length pickup.
It looks like your tanks are not longer than the kingcat tanks from what I can see.

The BVM KingCat/ F-100 tank instructions specify that the BVM clunk line will expand 3/4" when subjected to kerosene.
After exposure to kerosene, the BVM clunk line becomes more flexible than Tygon.
