RE: VSTank airsoft spring upgrade
Hey Shelonco,
Thanks for the information. I have been toying with the notion of using a stiffer but shorter spring (less preload but greater spring constant).
My thinking is this: (1.) Although longer preloaded springs may produce sufficient force the fact that they tend to twist/bind in the unit may impare thier function.
(2.) A shorter, stiffer spring would still provide the force needed to accelerate the piston forward but would not bind or twist as much.
The force exerted by an (ideal) spring obeys Hooke's law F = kx which basically states that the force exerted by the spring is proportional to the spring constant k and the amount the spring is compressed (or stretched) x. Thereseems like little else can be modified on the VS Tank airsoft units which are generally good out of the box other than spring preload/spring strength and minimising energy sapping friction. I have a VS Tiger I that shoots really hard and a Leopard that is a bit anemic in the shooting department.
What experience have you had modifying your airsodt units? Any other tips?
Thanks for your time, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
